2025 brought a ton of changes that none of us were expecting. After Hurricane Laura devastated the farm in 2020 we decided to hang up our farm boots and move to the city. We tried to make it work but the sayin you can take the farmer off the farm but you can’t take the farm out of the farmer was true for us. Over the summer we moved back the farm and decided to just one more time. Not going to lie we were both incredibly nervous. It had been years since we even thought about raising chickens much less restarting the farm as a whole. With both of us having full time jobs off the farm we knew it was going to be difficult. Inspections, paperwork and contacts had all expired so the process was starting from the very beginning once again. The girls are significantly older now so getting back to where we started was priority for us. They are no longer the little toddlers helping carrying chicks one by one but preteens and teenagers loading feed buckets. It’s good to be back.
